Project Background

In the Soapbox Practicum at Brigham Young University – Idaho, we had a project to create a campaign promoting the Department of Communication. We organized ourselves into different departments based off of our strengths and areas we wanted to grow in.

I was able to be a part of the print media team. I was responsible for creating all the media that would be printed as flyers around campus. Along with this primary responsibility, I filmed a couple mock posts for a mock social media page for the communication department.

Goals For the Project

The goal of this campaign was to promote the communication department at BYU-Idaho.

Project Journey

We chose the target audience of this campaign to be freshman and sophomores that have not yet declared a major at BYU-Idaho. Considering this target audience in mind, I wanted to show the fun side of communication. I designed the flyers to be eye-catching to someone passing by the hallway. One creative idea we tried to go for with the flyers was to add 3D elements to the flyers.

Growth and Outcomes

Being a part of print media and social media was a challenge. This was when I first started out in communication, so the work reflects where I started off. I was able to build skills in cross-functional work, content creation, and design.
