Project In a Nutshell

To help out a local small business, I offered to do their social media management and multimedia needs for free. Luxor Nail & Spa is a family-owned nail salon in Denison, TX. My responsibilities include social media announcements, menu creations, and customer inquiries.

Project Results

• Created and published visual social media content for Facebook and Instagram, driving a 20% increase in audience engagement
• Designed printed menus and salon signage to promote new specialty services
• Standardized the salon’s brand presentation across digital and print media to keep promotional materials engaging

Project Journey

A local small business needed help with their multimedia needs including social media and print media. My mom Ivy, the owner of Luxor Nail & Spa, let me help her out by fulfilling these needs.

While I was up in college, my mom would send over pictures of the nail sets her salon did to post online as a portfolio for the nail salon. Along with posting these nails for inspiration, I would create announcements such as holiday closures and anniversary announcements.

When I came back to Texas, I was quickly put to work to create print media promoting the new and/or seasonal pedicures Luxor would have. The most recent celebrating the 4th of July.

I have been blessed to apply the knowledge and skills I have learned at BYU-Idaho for a small business. This has helped me to experience what it’s like to work with a client. Even though the owner is my mom, she pushed me to go further and would not settle for low quality work. She understood that I need to grow as well as her clients would see these creations and had their needs in mind.

As I continue in my career, I will continue to volunteer at Luxor to fulfill their multimedia needs.
